Financial Administration Law (FAL)
A Financial Administration Law (FAL) is a framework of governance and financial practices that helps Councils and staff make informed decisions and manage their Nation effectively.
By adopting and living by a FAL, your Nation commits to strong governance and financial practices for the long term. It ensures stability by giving both current and future leaders the tools to uphold the same sound standards, building lasting confidence among First Nations citizens.

Financial Performance Certification
The Financial Performance (FP) Certification is an stamp of approval of a First Nation’s good financial health. FP Certification also allows you to apply to the FNFA for a loan at low cost.

Financial Management System Certification
A Financial Management System (FMS) Certificate demonstrates to your Council, community members, lenders, and partners that your Nation consistently applies administrative governance and financial practices outlined in your FAL.
For s of the First Nations Finance Authority (FNFA), this certification is also essential for remaining in good standing.

Capacity Development
The FMB offers tools, training, and guidance to help First Nations build strong financial management systems that meet national standards.
Supports include the Default Management Prevention Pilot Program and our Support Services program, which provide hands-on assistance, remote support, and training in key areas such as budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting.
