FMB was asked to give our opinion about what the International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) should work on next. We believe the ISSB should prioritize biodiversity, with an Indigenous focus. Indigenous Peoples are long-term stewards of the natural environment and experts on biodiversity. Companies should be required to disclose to investors about their track records with Indigenous Peoples and communities, how many Indigenous people are on boards or in senior management, and whether developers have gotten free, prior, and informed consent before starting a project.
